Training Module on Trans-Inclusive Sanitation
This training module equips participants with the knowledge and tools to design, implement, and monitor transgender inclusive sanitation systems. Grounded in lived experiences, feminist and Dalit feminist perspectives, Indian legal frameworks, and participatory WASH governance, it supports more equitable, inclusive, and rights based sanitation practices.
- Recognise sanitation as a fundamental human right linked to dignity, health, safety, mobility, and social inclusion, while understanding how existing systems exclude transgender persons and other marginalised communities.
- Examine the structural barriers including inaccessible infrastructure, binary design, stigma, violence, and implementation gaps that prevent equitable access despite progressive legal frameworks.
- Build practical skills to design, implement, and monitor transgender inclusive sanitation systems using participatory, rights based, and intersectional approaches.
- Apply feminist and Dalit feminist perspectives by centring lived experiences and community knowledge to create more equitable, accountable, and inclusive sanitation systems.
